JPG to DST requires digitizing

A JPG stores pixels; a DST file describes needle movements and color-change commands. Changing the filename extension does not create an embroidery design. AutoScope interprets your image as thread layers and stitch paths, which you can inspect before download. PNG and WebP images are accepted too, so a separate PNG-to-DST utility is unnecessary. This workflow creates stitches from artwork; it is not an editor for uploading an existing DST file.

Prepare the image and choose its physical size

Use a JPG, PNG or WebP smaller than 3 MB. JPEG compression can create stray colors around a logo, so use a clean original image where possible and limit the palette to the colors you intend to sew. Decide whether the background belongs in the embroidery. Set the width in millimeters and check both dimensions against your actual hoop. Small lettering and delicate gaps may need simpler artwork or a larger sewing size.

Inspect the sewing order and jumps

Generate the stitch preview in the studio. Compare outlines with the source, examine color layers and use the Jumps view to locate travel between disconnected parts. Check that the order makes sense for your material. A low jump count alone is not proof of a good sew-out: density, underlay, fabric movement and trimming also matter. Revise the artwork or settings if the preview loses necessary details.

DST colors need a separate thread sequence

DST does not preserve custom RGB thread colors in this export. Color changes indicate when to change thread, but the machine display can assign colors that differ from your intended palette. Follow the supplied thread worksheet and color-sequence information when setting up your needles or thread changes. The complete download bundle includes the thread worksheet along with the other supported formats.

Check the target machine and test-sew

DST is widely used in Tajima and commercial embroidery workflows, but your exact machine determines hoop, stitch-count and transfer limits. Confirm these in its manual and inspect the exported file in your machine software. Sew a sample with the intended fabric, stabilizer and thread before a garment or customer order. A paid plan is required to download machine files; uploading and previewing remain free.
