Keep the background out of your embroidery

A transparent PNG can isolate your subject before digitizing. Check the image against a contrasting background: a white rectangle that looks transparent is still part of the artwork. A PNG with a solid background can also be uploaded, but you must decide whether to stitch that area or remove it. Automatic background removal follows connected edge pixels near the corner color; it is not a semantic cut-out tool. Inspect the preview for lost edges or leftover background.

Set the sewing size before generating stitches

Upload a PNG smaller than 3 MB in the studio and choose the finished width in millimeters. Check the resulting height against your hoop as well. A large pixel count does not guarantee readable small embroidery: thin outlines, tiny text and narrow spaces need physical room for thread. Start with clear shapes and a modest palette. Simplify your artwork or enlarge the design if important details disappear in the stitch preview.

Review the thread layers, not just the thumbnail

Generate the preview and compare it with your source. Inspect each color layer and use the Jumps view to see travel between disconnected objects. Remove unwanted layers and adjust the design settings before exporting. The planned stitch paths are a useful check of shape and order, but they do not simulate fabric stretch, thread tension or all machine trimming behavior. Transparent pixels do not remove the need for stabilizer or appropriate underlay.

Export PES v6 for a compatible machine

Choose PES from the export menu after reviewing the design. This exporter writes PES v6. Many Brother and Baby Lock workflows use PES, but the exact machine must support the file version, hoop dimensions and stitch count. Check its manual rather than relying on the brand name alone. Open the file in your machine software and test-sew on scrap material with the same stabilizer you plan to use for the finished item.

Free preview, paid machine-file download

You can upload artwork and generate a stitch preview without an account. Downloading PES or other machine formats requires a paid plan. Current plans and export allowances are shown on the pricing page. AutoScope is automatic self-service digitizing; it does not include a person manually rebuilding difficult lettering or specialist embroidery effects.
